A song for you

"I sought for love and strength and light,
For grace and power to win the fight;
And prayed that Christ would come in might
Within my hear to reign.

I saw the treasure I might win,
Freedom from self, from inbred sin;
A holy fire to burn within,
If Christ came in to reign.

O wondrous change, there's victory within,
All fear cast out, the soul kept clean;
Joy, peace and rest, and hatred of sin,
Now Christ had come to reign.

Now Christ has come to reign, my heart his throne,
He reigns in love, he reigns alone;
O wondrous grace that he should come,
King of my heart to reign."
(Alfred Humphrey)

Hallelujah!
Praise God!

Deep Peace.

And for you?

I'm not too sure how many people are still reading this blog BUT here is goes any way.

Tonight we talked at cell group about sacrifice.
About what things that we need to sacrifice to have a deeper relationship with the Lord.

Maybe just something to think about.
I think that is the way I like to blog. I usually don't have anything huge and long to say, I like to put the thought out there and let God do the talking.

Sounds good to me.

Deep Peace.

Giving gifts.

This year it seems that I have been thinking a lot less about what to get people for gifts.
Not in a bad way like "ah who cares" but in a way where we just get something thoughtful and that is that. Not being consumed with the consumerism I suppose.
We've been trying to move along the lines of buying fairly traded products for gifts this Christmas season...

What about you all out there? Any neat ideas for Christmas gifts?
First things first: Jesus is our ultimate gift.

'Tis the season.
Deep Peace.

International Buy Nothing Day

Has anyone heard much about this new movie/documentary called 'What Would Jesus Buy?'. It's directed by the guy who starred in the 'SuperSize Me' documentary a few years ago. Apparently, this new movie is a good stand against consumerism, with a 'Christian angle' ...if you could call it that. It does poke a little bit of fun, by mocking the stereotypical televangelist, but who doesn't mock those guys??? However, it seems that it's message is that we've cheapened the season by making it a season to spend and collect debt.

So with that in mind, TODAY is international 'Buy Nothing Day'! Unless you read this super-early, it might be too late to jump aboard, but this idea could be fun to do for ourselves today or another day. A day where we buy nothing! I know a day might not change much, but the organizers say that it "isn't just about changing your habits for one day" but "about starting a lasting lifestyle commitment to consuming less and producing less waste". I'm aboard that idea.

Let me know your thoughts.

A community get-away

Yes it's true-- 614 London went away as a community for some time with the Lord and with each other.
It was a time of refreshing springs-- and good words.
Playing some games, and eating some good food.
Supporting one another and laughing with one another.
Oh and lets not forget a movie and popcorn-- yummm.

God showed up.
Community is strong.
and well...
we had a load of fun!

Deep Peace.

The way things can be.

"For as we have many members in one body, but all the members do not have the same function, so we, being many, are one body in Christ, and individually members of one another. Having then gifts differing according to the grace that is given to us, let us use them: if prophecy, let us prophesy in proportion to our faith; or ministry, let us use it in our ministring; he who teaches, in teaching; he who exhorts, in exhortation; he who gives, with liberality; he who leads, with diligence; he who shows mercy, with cheerfulness." -Romans 12:4-8

I read this today and meditated on it for awhile...

I began to think of how many times that I have seen a gift within some one yet they haven't had the platform within the church to exercise that gift-- why is that?
Shouldn't we be encouraging people to walk in FULLNESS in their giftings?
How can we change this?
Just some questions I was thinking on...

I have a heart to see people walk in their fullness. I believe it is necessary to be a fully functional body, that we ALL desire to see our brother or sister walk in their Fullness.
So when you see a teacher-- encourage them to teach.
When you see a father-- encourage them to hang with the youth.
When you see a healer-- encourage them to lay hands on the sick.
When you see a visionary-- encourage them to dream big.
When you see the compassionate-- encourage them to feel.
When you see an Intercessor-- encourage them to stand in the gap.
And so on..

Yep, this is the way it should be.

Deep Peace.

LaLa Song LaLa

I was looking through some guitar music that I have and went through one song that I thought I could share with you all-- I'm sure it is familiar:

You are my shepherd I have no needs
You lead me by peaceful streams
And you refresh my life
You hold my hand and you guide my steps
I could walk through the valley of death
And I won't be afraid

Because You are in Control
Because You are in Control
Because You are in Control

You cause everything to work together
You truly have a sovereign plan
And you know who I am
And you made who I am
And you love who I am

May you know that the LORD is in Control of your life-- not to be 'controling' but loving.
And may you know the depth of His love for you-- because He made you.

Deep Peace.
